My Papa: Lacey why don't you take these kids, and let 'em go play... I don't want you and them to remember Gramma this way.
Me: I won't... I'll remember the grandma, that bought me a dr. pepper, and grape bubble tape at Jim's Market before she took me to basketball practice when I was 9.

Aubryn: Is Gram(my mom) at the hospital with Great-Gramma?
Me: No honey Great-Gramma died early yesterday morning.
Aubryn: Well no one told me!
Me: I know... I didn't want to ruin your field trip to the zoo, I wanted you to have a really fun day.
Aubryn: You could have told me in the car on the way home!

Jaden: Yeah Randy, member Great Gamma died, and now her went up to heaven with Jesus and Chooga (our former dog).
Randy: Yeah pobly her feel better now, pobly her feel great!
Jaden: Yeah you always feel great in heaven
Randy: I know... member, I was there lasterday.
Me: *Tear*

Me: Oh no Bobbi (Aubryn), the kindergarten water day is on Friday, and that's the same day as Great-Gramma's funeral
Aubryn: *Tear* can't they do it the day before... Gramma won't care.
Me: you mean the water day or the funeral?
Aubryn: Great-gramma's funeral! *more tears*
Me: are you crying because you can't go to the water day or because of Grandma's funeral?
Aubryn: Both!!! *hysterical crying*

Aubryn: mom I think I changed my attitude
me: about what?
Aubryn: about the water day.
me: oh yeah, how so?
Aubryn: I think it would be better to go to the funeral to tell Gramma I love her one more time, and then next week you can take me to the Aquatic Center... they have slides and stuff.
Me: uhhhmmmm, okay sounds like you've got it all figured out.
Aubryn: Yep
